  • Pre-Purchase Survey

One of the best investments you can make when purchasing a boat is a pre-purchase survey as this allows you to get an in-depth report of what may be wrong with the boat, if anything, and how to best move forward should you choose to purchase it. Hiring a certified marine surveyor is a great way to gain a detailed understanding of a boat before purchasing it, and this can help you in determining if you should buy it at all.

    (Includes sea trial and appraisal)

  • Condition & Value Survey

Condition & Value Surveys are a great way to assess the current condition of your ship! Our professional marine surveyors will accurately assess your vessel and provide you with a thorough, detail-specific report informing you of the condition of your boat as well as any parts which may need repaired or replaced at the moment or in the near future.

    (Includes appraisal)

  • Damage Survey

Damage Surveys are one of the most important surveys one can purchase as they put your safety in the forefront of the assessment. Damage surveys take an honest look at your ship to determine whether the damage is reversible or if you are better off without it. They are also acurate determiners in how far damage has spread and what measures need to be taken to get your vessel back on the water.

  • Insurance Survey

By surveying your boat we can help determine which insurance is best for you or if your current insurance is the best plan for you. We take a look at the strenghts and weaknesses of your boat and use this information, along with your budget to determine the best insurance plan for you!

  • Outboard Motor Compression Test & Evaluation

An outboard motor compression test gauges an engine's ability to the fuel and air charge in the cylinder. This is a useful test to use when purchasing a used boat and this evaluation can help determine whether the boat is worth buying or if it will need work done on the engine, if any.

  • Appraisals

An appraisal inspection survey is used to determine a vessel's fair market value. Certain legal cases will require a ship's value to be determined. As will a bank when one is applying to obtain financing to purchase the boat.

  • Sea Trials

See if the boat's as good as it looks with a sea trial. Take the boat out for a test run on the open sea and see if lives up to your expectations! This is a great way to see if a boat is for you.

  • Collision & Accident Investigation

If you've been in an accident or have sustained some damage in an incident then we can help you is assessing the damage and getting your ship back to its best condition.

FAQs

What is a marine surveyor?
Marine surveying is a detailed inspection of a boat to determine its current condition and seaworthiness. When you choose Aqua Marine Surveying and Services LLC your marine survey will be done by an accredited, diligent, intelligent and honest marine surveyor. In particular a marine surveyor evaluates a boat to determine if the vessel is safe to use in the conditions for which it was designed, and what maintenance or repairs are required, or are likely to be required in the near future.

Most buyers are not experienced enough, or mechanically inclined to a point where they can make an adequate evaluation on their own. Even those who are qualified will benefit immensely from a second opinion from an unbiased, professional marine surveyor.

Why should I hire an accredited marine surveyor?

The short answer is to stay alive, physically and financially. The open water can be a treacherous place. It is no place for a deficient boat, especially one with an inexperienced owner and an inept crew. And, as the old saying goes, a bad boat is a hole in the water that you pour money into.

To hire an accredited marine surveyor is to buy some peace of mind. It will give you a better idea of exactly what you are getting into with your boat purchase, and help you learn what will be necessary to maintain the vessel in the future to keep you and your family safe, and your investment secure.

The longer answer is certain types and makes of boats have recurring problems or requirements. An accredited marine surveyor will be familiar with most models and be able to advise you on the long term suitability of your intended purchase and its equipment, particularly in relation to how and where you will be using it.

In addition, it is unlikely you will be able to secure insurance or financing without providing the insurance company or lender with an acceptable survey, meaning it may be in your benefit to incorporate the cost of a marine surveyor into your budget.
